The Sixth Floor Museum
$18/personjfk.org

Sixth Floor Museum The 6th Flooor Museum, a boxy brown building that sits on Elm Street, commemorates JFK’s life and legacy. It is the exact spot where he was shot. Well, to be more precise, it is the exact spot where Lee Harvey Oswald fired at him. If you know anything about the JFK assassination it is likely you will not learn anything new. Overall, we thought the experience was worth the investment.

Dallas World Aquarium
$21/persondwazoo.com

Walking into the aquarium is like walking into a jungle. A towering canopy of trees and bird exhibits line the walkway to the admissions counter. The attention to detail in the design is nothing short of transformative. That being said, we wish there were more sharks.

Pros

  • They have crocodiles
  • Very family friendly

Cons

  • Very family friendly

Since the Shed Aquarium is in our backyard, we have a high standard for comparison. That is why we believe you would not miss out if you decide to skip the Dallas Aquarium.

Dallas Museum of Art

Tiddy guy There is no reason not to visit! They have a variety of art collections ranging from contemporary to early Islamic.

Some exhibits we loved:

  • Wanda Koop, Dreamline (installation until 2020)
  • Ragnar Kjartanssan (installation until 2020)
  • Arts of the Americas (permanent collection)

Deep Ellum Art Park
FREE!the park

Art Park If you are looking for an Instagram worthy photo op, this is the place to go. This gem can be found under the freeway in Deep Ellum.

Deep Ellum Brewing Company
deepellumbrewing.com

Deep Ellum Brewing Company On the outskirts of Dallas lies Deep Ellum Brewing Company. This brewery is stocked full of good vibes, good people and good beer. We are definitely not beer drinkers but we found love in their hard seltzer, Blind Lemon. Pro tip: buy a beer, get a free tour.

Whataburger

We knew that visiting Texas meant trying Whataburger. Our verdict? Texas, don’t hate us - but it sucked. On a scale from McDonalds to Portillos, it was a 6.

Norma’s Cafe

Norma’s is the quintessential American diner. With pie served during breakfast and waitresses calling you “honey”, you know you are in the right place. (There are no gluten free options)
